18. Low-cost airline SpiceJet has told its pilots that they won't get the salary for April and May but will be paid for the cargo flights that they fly. The airline had already cut salary, laid off its expat pilots and sent a part of its staff on leave without pay, steps necessitated because of the disruption caused by COVID-19.
19. NEW ACADEMIC SESSION FROM SEPTEMBER, UGC RELEASES EXAMINATION GUIDELINES: The new academic session for freshers will begin in September while for 2nd and 3rd-year students, the academic session will begin in August.
20. The commission also said that exams for final semester students will be conducted in July. Where it is difficult to hold exams, universities can mark students 50% on the basis of the pattern of internal evaluation, and the remaining 50% marks can be awarded on the basis of performance in the previous semester, the guidelines said.
Universities may conduct Terminal / Intermediate Semester / Year examinations in offline / online mode, as per their Ordinances/Rules and Regulations, Scheme of Examinations, observing the guidelines of “social distancing” and keeping in view the support system available with them and ensuring fair opportunity to all students

8. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released 169 new names for the tropical cyclones in the Indian Ocean Region. The names were contributed by 13 countries namely India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Thailand, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Iran. The proposed names should be neutral to cultures, politics, gender and religious beliefs. The name should not hurt the sentiments of the group of population in the world.

Asteroid 1998 OR2 to Safely Fly Pasted Earth : A large near-Earth asteroid safely passed by our planet on Wednesday morning, providing astronomers with an exceptional opportunity to study the 1.5-mile-wide (2-kilometer-wide) object in great detail. The asteroid got no closer than about 3.9 million miles (6.3 million kilometers), passing more than 16 times farther away than the Moon.Its next close approach to Earth will occur in 2079, when it will pass by closer - only about four times the lunar distance.
