1. India and China concluded the ‘Hand-in-Hand’ military exercise on 22nd December 2018 in China’s Chengdu city. This was the 7th edition of the ‘Hand-in-Hand military exercise.

2. The tax rates on 23 goods and services has been reduced by the GST Council on 22nd December 2018. These goods include movie tickets, TV and monitor  screens, power banks and others.

After this reduction, only 28 goods are left in the highest tax bracket of 28 percent and includes cement, sin goods tobacco, alcohol), auto parts and luxury goods such as Air Conditioner and dishwasher. The new GST rates will be applicable from 1st of January 2019.

3. Nevada becomes 1st US state with female-majority Legislature.

23 of the 42 available State Assembly seats will now be represented by a woman.

4. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has announced a Rs. 10180 Cr program under which farmers will get up to Rs. 10000 a year for prchase of seeds, fertilizers and insecticides as well as interest free loan of Rs. 50000.

The program is named as Krushak Assistant for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA), which will be operational for the next the three years.

5. National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed all mining activities within 10 km radius of the Sariska Tiger Reserve be stopped immediately.

Sariska Tiger Reserve is a national park and tiger reserve located in the Alwar,Rajasthan.

6. Indian Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on 22 Dec 2018 inaugurated the Information Fusion Centre (IFC) for the countries of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) for information sharing and capability building, coordination of incident response and disaster relief, and in time also shares submarine safety information.

Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) in Gurugram.
