1) Utkarsh Bangla and Sabooj Sathi Schemes won the prestigious UN’s WSIS award

Two schemes of the West Bengal government for skill development and distribution of bi-cycles to students have won the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) awards under the aegis of the United Nations. The schemes are "Utkarsh Bangla" and "Sabooj Sathi"

 2) India brings down trade deficit with China by $10 billion in 2019

India has managed to bring down its trade deficit with China by $10 billion to $53 billion in 2018-19 year on year, thanks to efforts by New Delhi to get greater market access to the latter's markets and take benefit out of the current Washington-Beijing trade war.

 3) Alice G. Vaidyan awarded the Freedom of the City of London

Alice G. Vaidyan has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of her work to promote insurance ties between India and the UK. Award presented during the first India-UK Insurance Summit in London on April 11.

 4) Telugu Poet K Siva Reddy Selected For Prestigious Saraswati Samman 2018

Telugu poet K Siva Reddy has been selected for the prestigious Saraswati Samman, 2018 for his collection of poetry titled Pakkaki Ottigilite. The award carries a cash prize of 15 lakh rupees, a citation and a plaque.

 5) DoT Approves Merger of Tata Tele Unit & Airtel With Riders

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has approved the merger of Tata Teleservices with Bharti Airtel Ltd., subject to the condition that it furnishes a Rs 7200 crore bank guarantee.

 6) Jamia Millia Islamia gets its First Woman Vice-Chancellor

The Ministry of Human Resources and Development has issued a statement about appointing Professor Najma Akhtar as vice–chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI) by the President of India. She has been appointed for a period of five years. Professor Najma Akhtar will be the first woman to hold the post.

 7) Jean Michel Lapin Announced As Haiti's New Prime Minister  

President Jovenel Moise announced that Jean Michel Lapin will be the new prime minister of Haiti. It is French-speaking Caribbean Community (CARICOM) country.
