Didn't ask any manufacturer for default helpline number on phonebooks: Clarifies UIDAI

Thousands of smartphone users in India woke up puzzled on Friday with a UIDAI toll-free helpline number saved in their phonebooks by default.



Please check if a number starting from 1800 in name of UIDAI has been automatically added to your phone contacts. If yes, delete it immediately. It is a spam of the day.

Yeah it is given in recent Android and seems it's invalid when we call them through this...even it was flashed in news too yesterday, It seems fake number
Most of the govt helpline numbers are not maintained properly and it would be in out of connection.

UIDAI said people should "refrain from publicly putting their Aadhaar numbers on Internet and social media and posing challenges to others".


Virtual ID now ready to replace Aadhaar number for identity verification

An Aadhaar-card holder can now generate a virtual ID UIDAI's website and produce it for authentication. At banks though, it may not work till August 31.
